Craft Sale Follow-Up

Thanks again for all of your advice and good wishes for my mom's craft sale last weekend. Many of you have been asking how it went, so I thought I'd share some pictures from the beautiful day overlooking the water in Brooklyn. I wish I could have been there!

Here's how her table looked:

Unfortunately, sales were not as strong as she was hoping. It turns out it was more of a $10 and under crowd, and while people ooh'ed and aah'ed over everything on her table, it didn't seem they were really there to shop. (My brother's girlfriend, on the other hand, had a table of homemade chocolates and candies and SOLD OUT. Again, I think it was that lower price point).

Of my stuff, all of the Moleskine notebooks sold, as did the pair of Chocolate Lollipop pillowcases and a couple of the stuffed birds. NONE of the quilted pillow sold. : (

But my mom is not discouraged. She's on the lookout for other sales ... maybe ones that are more craft-focused where the clienetele have a better idea of what they're shopping for. More to come, I'm sure!

On an unrelated note, have you voted yet? If not, what are you waiting for??!

  1. Everything looks really great, I think your mom is right not to be discouraged, she just needs a different audience! At some fairs people are just there as a family outing, and not reaslly to shop for anything -other than drinks and snacks!
So a more crafty audience, someone who appreciates the work that goes into making all the beautiful things she has for sale!

  3. I voted!

The booth indeed looked great. I am not the least surprised that some of the birds sold. HA - can I say "told ya so" ?

  6. Well, I'm not surprised you sold out of those notebooks - they are so cool. And your Mom does right not to be discouraged - all of that table looked amazing. I think I'd have snapped the lot up!!!!

And I haven't voted....because I'm in the UK (but I would have done if I could...things need to change over there, something needs to happen...the world is going crazy and the economy is crap!!!)

  7. John, your stuff looked GREAT on display, (of course!) but those little girl sweaters are wicked cute! Does your mom make them? If so does she sell on etsy or anything?

  8. I agree that everything does look beautiful! Has she considered selling on etsy? She made such beautiful things, she just met the "I am not sure I want to spend that much money/any money today crowd". :)
