Let's make this interesting ...

I'm not sure how much I've mentioned here on my blog before, but we in the Quilt Dad household are huge UNC Tar Heel fans. Between Mrs. Quilt Dad and myself, we hold FOUR Carolina degrees ... with a possible fifth in our future (hers, not mine).

No sooner had I started celebrating the Tar Heels' win over Villanova last night than I started getting some smack talk comments on my blog ... specifically from a Ms. KateKwiltz in Chicago. A Michigan native, Kate has deluded herself into thinking that the Spartans might actually have a chance tonight. She's so confident in her team, in fact, that she challenged me to a friendly wager: 4 fat quarters to the winning team's fan. And we all know who that's going to be. Boy, I can't wait to add to my stash!

So if you're not sure who to root for in tonight's game, consider cheering for Quilt Dad over KateKwiltz in the Quilting Smackdown 2009!

  7. I picked UNC to win it all in my brackets!!:) I will be rooting with you because I'm the only one in my household who picked them and I'm a girl who doesn't follow basketball until march madness. I really like it and like it if I can beat my hubby!!;) Have fun with your new fat quarters!:):)

  9. I'm sorry John but old loyalties die hard. I may not have lived in Michigan since the Earvin 'Magic' Johnson (MSU) vs Larry Bird (Indiana) days but, like I said, Old Loyalties die hard.

    They will smoke UNC!
    Cheers,
    Dionne

  15. I was actually in Chapel Hill this weekend (en route to a quilt shop in Carborro) and it was utter insanity. I had forgotten how big basketball is in NC. It was good to be back for a visit.

  16. Well, looks like you won the fat quarters and your household must be celebrating today. Even though I was cheering for UNC, I feel bad for my MSU family members. MSU really didn't do very well last night. Enjoy the glory.

  17. Sorry, JQ, I had to pull for MSU since that's where my degree is from). I cheered and cheered knowing that UNC would most probably win. However, I think it was 100% amazingly terrific to have a hometeam play in the final 4. MI and Detroit needs all the positive input it can get.

    bah humbug!

Ok, ok, it was a game well-played... but still... once a Spartan always a Spartan.

    Congratulations.
