Tea Bird

Hoop Up for quiltnookgal / Cara

Here's a small embroidered piece that I recently completed for Cara as part of the Hoop Up! embroidery swap. Cara requested images that combine two of her favorite things: tea, and birds. Her intent is to frame all of the pieces she receives in wooden hoops and hang them in her quilting nook.

The image was adapted from a greeting card image that I came across in a Google Image search. Unfortunately, I still haven't been able to find an original source or the name of the artist. I would love to give proper credit, so if you have any information on this please let me know!

(Also, sorry, but I can't help it. "Put a bird on it!" There, glad I got that out of my system.)

I didn't embroider the caption that was included underneath the image, but it's really cute. It says:
Sylvia hadn't quite understood the concept of the tea bag ... Where would her lipstick go?

Hope Cara likes it! I have two more pieces to embroider to close out this round of the swap.

    I love it! I've meaning to get into embroidery. Quilting seems to be a "gateway" craft. It got me into knitting and crocheting. I think embroidery is next! You have such an inspirational site.... love it!!

    Put a bird on it! Ha ha. I laughed out loud. I've been watching Portlandia on Hulu.... (I just went and checked your link to make sure that's what you were talking about and it's exactly what I thought!)
    btw, I'm a fellow UNC grad - '91. Congrats to your wife regarding her PhD program. I'm envious that you get to go back to the Hill. I'm new to your blog and I was curious if you do your own quilting or do you send it out? If so, who do you use? Thanks.
